Joint Cooperation between Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences (HUMS) and UNICEF
The achievements of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences in fighting and controlling Aedes mosquitos and other measures have been shared with UNICEF Representatives in Iran.

The Chancellor of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences declared the Joint Cooperation between Hormozgan University of Medical Sciencest (HUMS) and UNICEF in making a documentary on the Achievements of Health System in Islamic Republic of Iran and on the effective interventions in controlling Aedes mosquitos in Hormozgan province.
In a meeting hosted by the Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences with Consultants and Representatives of UNICEF in Iran holding under the supervision of Dr. Robin Nancy regarding Iran's Success in controlling Aedes mosquitos, the Integrity of Health System, Mother and Child Care Programs, and Nutrition Improvement Programs, by UNICEF consultants in Iran, in line with sharing knowledge and valuable experiences of the Health System of the Islamic Republic of Iran in various fields of health with other countries, and specially the activities of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, a proposal on a documentary on how to advance Health System Programs in Iran with a special look at Hormozgan province, was approved by the Chancellor of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences.
In this meeting, the Vice-chancellor for Health, while introducing Hormozgan province and the most important activities of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, presented a report on the status of comprehensive health service centers, health houses, border care centers, health centers and behavioral diseases counseling centers in Hormozgan province, especially in rural, low-income and high geographical dispersion areas.
Dr. Abduljabbar Zakeri continued to report on the status of the indicators of the health program for infants and children, children vaccination, care for pregnant women and the actions of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences in fighting and controlling Aedes mosquitos.
Dr. Gholam Ali Javdan, the Chancellor of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, by reviewing the records of UNICEF's support in the past years, stated the current challenges regarding Vaccination Programs and Control of invasive Aedes, the challenges of Mother and Child Care Programs, Improving Nutrition, Mouth and Teeth.
Dr. Javdan also declared the readiness of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences for any cooperation with international organizations in the field of health and medical education, and introduced his proposed plan regarding the supply and installation of solar panels on the roofs of all vaccination centers to provide electricity for cooling systems of coolers and refrigerators in order to store and transport the vaccines, considering the unique potential of the weather and climate of Hormozgan province and in line with the green management of energy consumption.
This proposal was welcomed by the UNICEF consultants and representatives, and it was settled to implement this project in health centers of the province with the cooperation of domestic producers and using the capacities of UNICEF.
Dr. Robin Nandi, the representative and executive director of UNICEF in Iran, thanked for welcoming and providing an opportunity to visit the facilities, capacities and achievements of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences in realizing and promoting various health programs and introducing his accompanying team, explained the goals and the short-term and long-term joint cooperation of UNICEF with Iran's health department and the exchange of information and sharing the achievements of different countries in advancing health programs.
By introducing the performance and achievements of the various countries including the Persian Gulf countries, Dr. Nandi considered Iran as a leading and successful country in promoting health programs and found Iran's health system a creative and pioneer system.
He found the performance of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences as a unique example of the health system of the country which deserves to be praised and expressed his desire that EMRO countries receive training in the PHC health system if possible. He also considered the successful and timely interventions of entomology and vector control as an important factor in controlling the cycle of disease transmission in Hormozgan province and emphasized the continuity of these services and their support.
Dr. Javdan, the Chancellor of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, in the continuation of this meeting, also emphasized that the achievements of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences would not have been accomplished without the cooperation of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the provincial officials, and appreciated the President, the Hormozgan Governor and other local authorities in achieving the goals and achievements of this university.
It is worth mentioning that the consultants and representatives of UNICEF in Iran under the leadership of Dr. Robin Nancy visited Hormozgan comprehensive health service centers, health houses and border care centers in order to examine how to provide health services in the health network system of Hormozgan province and also to evaluate the programs and measures to combat Aedes mosquitos in the province.
